About Somalingeswara Swamy Temple

Sri Somalingeswara Swamy Temple

Om namah Shivayah...!

Shiva, the supreme power according to the Hindu religious beliefs, has played an important role in the formation of Indian culture. Known as Shiva or Mahadeva in the northern part of the country and Thillai in South, the deity is considered among the three main energies behind the formation of this universe. Mostly represented in mythologies as a Yogi or a peaceful entity, Shiva is also described as a fierce deity in ancient religious scriptures in the form of a Bhairava or Nataraja. From Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Saurashtra to Assam, he has been worshipped in different forms as the destroyer of evils.

He instantly blesses all those who pray him without any discrimination. He fulfills the dreams of all his devotees. He is therefore known as Bhola Shankar and the lord of his devotees. Lord Shiva in reality is easily approachable and accessible. He answers the prayers of all his devotees who pray him with true devotion, chant his name and perform abhisheka. He blesses them with all the worldly pleasures they desire. He has gulped the deadly poison and preserved it in his neck only to protect his devotees from all kinds of difficulties. Although he resides in the grave-yard, he takes care of the comforts of his devotees. Hence he is the almighty god. Such a lord is accessible to us at Nunusuralla village in the name of shri Somalingeshwara Swamy. The locals here claim that the temple is over a 100 years old. He is a powerful god, specially for the ailing he has been blessing them with good health. He blesses all those who lay faith in him and blesses them with all that they wish for. But incidentally the temple and its idols faced the ravages of time. Hence the villagers have decided to restore and reconstruct the temple. The temple comprises of the main Somalingeshwara idol along with the idol of Nandishwara and Aanjaneya which are now due for re-establishing along with the Dwadasha Jyothir lingas and the temple's pillar (Dwajasthamba). The villagers have the conviction to renovate this powerful temple to a spectacular site with your contributions to this divine project. Earnest devotees are requested to come forward and donate generously to materialize this project.

Warm regards,
